Deciding where to stay when visiting the Grand Canyon is going to be an important decision and should be a decision that you make early. Reservations should be made well in advance, especially during summer days. There are seven hotels inside the park and most of them are located at the South Rim; only of them is located in the North Rim. The nearest lodging outside the park is Tusayan, which is 10 minutes away from the Grand Canyon South Rim. There are other outside lodging options, but most of them are more than one 1 hour away.
South Rim
Lodgings inside the park at the South Rim range from $69 to $426 per night and are managed by Xanterra Parks & Resorts.

Tusayan is only 7 miles south of Grand Canyon Villiage. If you decide to stay in one of the lodges in Tusayan , the park provides free shuttle service between Tusayan and the park.

North Rim
Lodgings at North Rim are generally open from mid-May to mid-October. The Grand Canyon Lodge is the only lodge at the North Rim. As with reservations to the lodges in South Rim, these reservations should be made well in advance. These reservations are managed by Forever Resorts. Lodgings outside North Rim include Kaibab Lodge (18 miles away) and Jacob Lake Inn (45 miles away) and are available seasonally. These lodgings do not include a shuttle service to and from the park.
Desert View (East Entrance to the Park)
If you are more adventurous you may wish to stay at Desert View. Desert View does not have any lodgings, but it does have campgrounds. It is open from May through mid- October and is located 26 miles east of Grand Canyon Village. There are 50 campsites, and most sites accommodate tents or smaller RV’s or Travel Trailers. There are no hook-ups allowed and there is a 30-foot trailer or RV maximum. There are also camping sites available at the South Rim. |
